Spiritual Legacy

How long does it take to make a legacy? The answer: A Lifetime.
I used to spend so much time lamenting what I didn’t have, the present moments were lost to me. So many opportunities passed me by whilst I was engaged in self sabotage and doubt, fearing I may never become much of anything. I worked and pushed and pursued, looking only at where I had been and where I was going. Before I knew it, years had flown by and I still wasn’t where “I wanted to be.” Though I had a great job in Hollywood making lots of money, still I had a deep sense of longing. Then something strange happened. Something for most of my life I blocked, denied, and abandoned. I had a spiritual awakening.

It’s hard to explain really. Just a voice in my head, my intuition, telling me enough was enough. Was this really the life I wanted? Fending off back stabbers and megalomaniacs for my scraps at the Hollywood table? In truth, I wasn’t anywhere near my dreams, my goals. And yet, everyone was patting me on the back telling me I’d made it. I never believed it. And the reality that this may be all there was for me filled my heart with fear and regret. How could I have “Financial Security” and feel so insecure at the same time? To the astonishment of many around me, I decided to quit. I wanted something. I wasn’t sure how to get it. And truthfully, in hindsight, I didn’t know what I was after. I simply had a longing, a craving for something more. Thats when a friend took me to my 1st Kundalini Yoga class. It was the beginning of my connection to something long forgotten. My spirit. My soul. And through that connection trust began to develop. A trust in my higher power to guide me, support me, and reveal my purpose.

I now find myself in a very different place then ever imagined. I am a Kundalini Yoga Teacher. I own my own cynosure. It was never part of the equation for me. Yet here I am. Held and guided by an unseen hand. So, I trust. I Teach. I keep up. Do I still doubt, and fear? Most certainly. But, in those moments I go deeper into my practice, my faith, my trust. I remind myself, “I Am . .. . held by a hand. .. . infinite. .. . and provided for.”
Sure, I make mistakes. I am human. But, I strive everyday to build the caliber of my character in dignity, divinity, and grace. I strive to recognize and sacrifice the unnecessary burdens of my ego and make my existence more sacred and bountiful, abundant. I do not seek acknowledgment or validation. My focus is not the worship of the finite dollar. And, if you were to ask me today if I am happy. In my heart, I would have to say . .. . Yes. I love what I do with all my heart. Today I do not worry too much about becoming anything. Today I am content just to be the best me I can be. Sat Nam.

Resolution to be Resolute

Resolution to be Resolute.

2013 left many of us feeling beaten up, confused, exhausted. We experienced changes in our relationships, both within and without. Some of us may have even felt broken. I did. I experienced so much upheaval and change it almost left me spinning. Yet, through the frustration, the tears, the pain of growth, I always turned to my practice. I could stop and meditate on the blessing of every breath. I could remind myself that “this too shall pass”. I could work my body and build my nervous system. And most important, I could and would remind myself that I am infinite. Innocent and beautiful in the vibration of the creator’s breath. So, as 2014 approached and my life looked nothing like it did at the beginning of 2013, I thought about resolutions for the new year.
It has always been my feeling that new years resolutions were kind of silly. After all, I would make them, and by years end accomplished little except beating up on myself for not accomplishing them. As 2013 was drawing to a close I decided to handle 2014 a little bit different.
I knew that the consciousness energy is quickening. People all around me are waking up, seeing things for what they really are, feeling disillusioned, and seeking a guided and spiritual change in their own lives. In order for me to hold the space as Teacher, as Fatehpal, I had to continue to cultivate my relationship with victory.

This year my resolution is to be resolute. Resolute in my commitment to build my character, my dignity. Resolute to trust that nothing I encounter, nothing that challenges me, is beyond my ability to meet, overcome, and persevere. Resolute to Keep Up and trust I will be Kept Up. Resolute to recognize I am provided for, held by a hand, and guided by the subtlest loving energy. Resolute to stop, breath, and listen. Resolute to trust what I know, what I have to offer, and the power of the love in my heart, is enough. Resolute to stand with you in community, humanity, consciousness, and victory.

It only takes .5% of the whole human population to change the course of human evolution. That is point five percent. What I do matters. What you do matters. We each have a purpose to fulfill. We each have greatness to offer. Together we can heal the vibration and set a new elevated course. Trust.
This 2014 I give myself one task. One resolution. To be…

… Resolute!

Blog Day 6

Went under Highway 99 today to the Troll in Fremont for day 6. I thought this would be the perfect location for the middle of the meditation week. While I chanted I imagined the entire structure of his body filling with light. Each car’s driver and passengers that passed above on 99 would magnetize the energy to there heart centers. Every tourist that came along to photograph and play at the Troll would receive the blessings and take back to where ever they came from. It was a very pleasant vision. And, as if the guru wanted to affirm that vision, as I finished a woman off to the side started to clap, then stopped, not sure if she was supposed to :) Turns out that she, a dog, and her male companion were traveling from Alaska to Arizona on a road trip. They had never heard of the Compassion Games or Kundalini Yoga. I gave a brief explanation, they took some photographs of me and my write up display on my guitar case and were off to carry and spread the light. Wahe Guru! May they and all be blessed on the journey. Sat Nam.

Blog Day 5

Trekked down to Century Link Stadium today during Seahawks vs 49er’s for day 5 of the meditation. Apparently the crowd noise from the game broke records! I really focused on the idea of planting the vibrational seed. I visualized all those fans flooding out from the stadium and walking through the space I played and magnetically collecting the energy and then magnetizing it to each other through out the crowed streets, spreading out like an invisible nervous system. I’m almost certain this was what the Hawks needed for their extraordinary victory over the 49er’s, haha :) )) But seriously, this adventure is such a learning experience of letting go and trusting in the process. During my chant one gentleman stood by off the side and listened to the whole meditation. He asked why I repeated the same “Lyrics” over and over. I explained the Yogic philosophy of Naad (Vibrational Essence). He was a bit skeptical and wanted a modern scientific approach. So, I explained it to him using the Quantum Physics idea of “The Observer Effect” on a subatomic level that is the seed that effectively builds into his entire cellular structure. He seemed to like that and left promising to look more into it and Kundalini Yoga. Even just one uplifted is a good day at work. Wahe Guru! Sat Nam.

Blog Day 4

Journeyed to Volunteer Park on Capitol Hill to the Black Hole Sun sculpture for day 4 of the meditation. Today was much like other days. However, we did attract a few listeners that sat close by. Truth be told, I was having a small ego struggle. Of course we want people to listen, even participate. But, the more I let go the greater the understanding came to me. I am simply planting seeds. Vibrational seeds across the city. Just like the bij mantra Sat Nam, the more I feed the seed, nuture it with my heart, the more the tree of compassion will grow. I can not expect the tree from the onset. So, with this in mind, I continue the journey, looking to heal my heart and the hearts around me. Sat Nam

Blog Day 3

Sat underneath the Space Needle today. The energy felt very erratic. I had to really concentrate to hold the energy in my heart center. I kept projecting the loving vibration of peace and harmony, seeing all showered in light. I also made my sign larger so as to explain what I was doing and why. As you’ll see, still few took notice. In just 3 days I have really taken acute notice of the extreme hurry of so many. I can’t help but wonder, “Where are you all going that you need to go so fast and so detached from each other?” Sometimes I feel like we are such a quick fix nation. We are constantly moving from one consumption to the next never really just enjoying the moment. Nonetheless, I chanted a heartfelt chant and said my prayers for peace. Today I’m off to the Black Hole Sun in Volunteer Park on Capitol Hill. Sat Nam

Kundalini Yoga for Addiction

3rd Sundays Monthly @ 1pm

$11 Suggested Donation

The greatest asset to overcome our addictions is the understanding we have a higher power. Some call it the Universe. Some call it God. Some call it Spirit. But, when we call IT, it comes and carries us through the obstacles and challenges we face. All we need is trust, awareness, and an open heart. Through the powerful technology of Kundalini Yoga we can strengthen our reception to It’s guidance. We will work on building our nervous systems, opening our hearts, and balancing our minds so that we may be in a space of tuned reception to that higher vibratory wisdom. Working together to achieve our goals of sobriety we lift each other up to lofty heights. Elevated. Aware. Conscious. May we all bless each other.
